Can't remember book title. Please help?

I read this book a few years ago about some kids that are against an evil society and one of the kids gets captured and is hypnotized into becoming one of them, and when the rest of the kids are captured themselves they don't understand why their friend is acting so strangely. I wasn't able to finish the book, so that's all I know. Please answer if you know.
